11 die as busA private bus carrying about 40 passengers

A private bus carrying about 40 passengers crashed into an electricity pole on Thazhathangadi in Kottayam district and collapsed into the river Meenachil killing 11 people and wounded several others.
Among the dead were three women and a social worker who collapsed and died at the scene of the tragedy. About 10 people are reported missing.
The accident happened when the bus running in the Kottayam-Kumarakom route reportedly gave way to a jeep from the opposite direction around 2.30 am.
