Marad riot : RI for 6 persons

Kozhkode: The special court dealing with Marad case has awarded five year rigorous imprisonment to five persons and three year jail term for another in connection with setting ablaze of a woman's house following the 2002 communal clashes at Marad beach near here in which five persons were killed. They will have to pay a fine of Rs. 13,000 each, failing in which they will have spend an additional 10 months more.
K P Prasanna Kumari, the Special Court Judge, also slapped a fine of Rs 13,000 on each of the convicted in default of which they will have to serve an additional ten months jail term.
