By-elections to the Constituent Assembly Kannur ended with a great and peaceful than 80 per cent from 1.33 lakh voters cast votes until the end of voting hours to 1700 hours, it was learned from official sources.

This was an entirely new experience for voters in Kannur, where nearly 2,000 security personnel including those odd Forces Central kept vigil.

Central security personnel authorized to transport voters to polling stations after checking their identity card at the entry points of all voters booths.The not bring their ID cards have been invited to provide an affidavit attesting reasons of lack.

CPI-M leader M Prakashan member, had filed a complaint with the chief state election ballot and the District objected to the audit is conducted by the central forces.

According to these sources, except for isolated incidents of minor altercation, polling was peaceful throughout the constituency where the Congress rival and CPI-M have been fierce campaign by the Congress.

No adverse reaction was reported from anywhere in Ernakulam constituency, where about 64% was recorded, official sources. In 2006 Assembly elections, Ernakulam had recorded 61.14%. Tight security arrangements had been made and police contingent was also deployed North-Holland.
