Trapped Keralites return from Russia

Kochi: Through the intervention of the Indian Embassy, six people from Kerala who underwent excruciating suffering in Russia have returned to their homeland. They had been cheated by a fraudulent recruiting agency. The victims have been identified as Senthilkumar and Rarichan of Thrissur, Firoz Khan of Palakkad, Jenshu Joseph, Johnson Burly and Joseph Burly of Ernakulam.
The victims revealed that they have been taken to St Petersburg, along with ten other Indians, on a tourist visa by the agent. They were promised that they would be given Rs. 40,000 as salary. But they did not get employment there and when they protested they were roughed up by the agents. They were rescued as a result of the initiatives taken by the Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, Vayalar Ravi and the officials of Indian Embassy .Their pitiable condition was revealed only when they could phone up to their relatives at home.
